    6. Allow the app to make and manage phone calls if prompted.

2. Why can’t I see or access the Dial Pad in the PlanetTalk App?

If you’re unable to access the Dial Pad or make a call, please ensure that the phone number you’re entering is complete and includes the international format.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the PlanetTalk App.

  3. Tap the green Dial Pad if the number is not saved in your contacts.

  5. Tap the green phone button to make the call.
  6. Make sure you have allowed PlanetTalk permission to make and manage phone calls when prompted.

2. Can I receive incoming calls through the PlanetTalk App?

No, you cannot receive incoming calls on the PlanetTalk App. PlanetTalk is currently designed for making outgoing calls only. If someone wants to contact you, they will need to call your regular mobile phone number.

3. Can I send messages through the PlanetTalk App?

No, messaging is not currently available on the PlanetTalk App. At the moment, PlanetTalk is designed primarily for making international calls.

4. How can I check the call rates for a destination?

PlanetTalk offers competitive call rates to help you make affordable international calls. You can easily check the current call rates in the app by following these steps:

  • Open the PlanetTalk App.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Call Rates.
  • Choose the country you want to call to view the applicable rate.

You can also check the cost before making a call by entering the phone number you wish to call. The applicable rate will be displayed before you place the call.

Tip: If you are using the Local SIM call option, consider switching to Wi-Fi Call when connected to a strong Wi-Fi to avoid using the calling credit on your local SIM.

5. What are the different call types, and how do I select one?

To choose the best call type for your needs:

  1. Open the Planet Talk App.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Tap "Change Call Type".

  4. Select one of the following options:

    • Local Call (Recommended for the Best Experience): Uses a local access number—perfect if you have inclusive minutes from your mobile provider.

    • Wi-Fi: Ideal if you don’t have inclusive minutes or are traveling. Ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong.

    • Mobile Data/Wi-Fi: Works similarly to Wi-Fi calling but uses your mobile data when Wi-Fi is unavailable.

6. What should I do if my call isn’t connecting?

  • Ensure app permissions allow calls: Go to Settings > Permissions > Allow access to Microphone.

  • Check your internet connection if using Wi-Fi. For better quality, switch to Local Access Number.

  • If using dual SIM, ensure your registered number is set as the primary SIM. If issues persist, remove the second SIM and try again.

  • Ensure you are not calling a premium number (e.g., customer support or technical assistance numbers).

7. Why can’t I reach my family in Eritrea?

  • Double-check the dialling format: 00 + country code + mobile number (excluding the first 0).

  • Some local operators block international calls—confirm that the recipient can receive them.

8. I topped up, but I can’t make calls. What should I do?

  • Check your balance to ensure the top-up was successful.

  • Verify that your call type is set correctly (Wi-Fi or Local Access Number).

9. Why did my call ring but then disconnect?

  • Check your internet connection if using Wi-Fi or mobile data.

  • If the issue persists, switch to Local Access Number for better quality.

10. Why can’t the recipient hear me during the call?

  • Ensure microphone access is enabled: Go to Settings > Permissions > Allow Microphone Access.

  • If using Wi-Fi, try switching to Local Access Number for better audio quality.

  • Confirm that the recipient’s location has good network coverage.
